A sought-after bottle from one of this trail-blazing distillery's early batches. Rich and deep-coloured with notes of toasted Muscovado sugar and treacle, orange peel and tropical fruit, and hints of milk chocolate and banana bread. Full-bodied and thoroughly satisfying!

TWO DRIFTERS

Born out of an idea whilst working in Vancouver, Canada and brought to reality in 2019. Two Drifters is a distillery founded by Russ and Gemma Wakeham a husband and wife team from Devon. From Gemma and Russ's first date (rum tasting) through to their honeymoon (St. Lucia) rum has been at the heart of every major event (and most Friday nights).

Before the distillery Ross spent his career in chemistry research on carbon capture, storage and utilisation, finding ways to take CO2 out of the air and give it real value.

Most rum sold in Britain is made somewhere else, shipped in ready made and bottled here. Two Drifters is not. Every bottle begins as molasses at their distillery just outside Exeter, and everything that happens between molasses and cork happens under that roof.

It starts with 100% molasses and a seven day fermentation, seeded with a portion of dunder from previous batches to build depth of flavour. From there, multiple distillations through the pot and column stills (run entirely on renewable electricity) and then each rum is finished in its own way: the Pure White Rum is triple distilled, blended and brought to strength with purified Devon water. The Lightly Spiced Rum and Overproof Spiced Pineapple Rum are spiced at the distillery, with natural colour from 100% waste cacao husks, never caramel colouring. And the Signature Rum matures on site in French oak ex Madeira casks.

Nothing is wasted along the way. Spent molasses goes to local farms, the cacao husks that colour the spiced rums are themselves a waste product given a second life, and every gram of CO2 in the process is measured.
