Champagne Veuve Fourny Brut Rose NV
Madame Fourny and her two sons, Emmanuel and Charles-Henry, own or lease 12 hectares of premier cru vineyards in the Cotes de Blancs where they practice a mixture of organic and biodynamic viticulture. The average age of the vines is 30 years and they are pruned hard to restrict yields, the chalk vineyards are planted entirely with Chardonnay.
Only the first pressing (cuvee) is used, all the 'tailles' being discarded and all the wines receive a minimum of three years ageing before disgorgement and a further six months 'on the cork'. 12.0%abv
The rose is 90% Chardonnay and is crisp, stylish and utterly ravishing. Robert Parker recently wrote of it, "Fine and persistent as well as rich and seductive. It may become one of the most recherche wines in Champagne." Well, cherche no longer!
