Description

Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, grown to the west of Ancona, about 30km. from the Adriatic, is generally a rather bland wine but, when made by someone like the talented oenologist, Giuliano d'Ignazi, who heads up the wine making for the Moncaro co-operative at Montecarotto, it becomes a different beast. This is a 100% Verdicchio picked ultra-ripe at the beginning of October and cool fermented to allow the fresh, honeyed aromatics to come to the full with a rich, zesty fruitiness.

In 1964 a group of grape growers founded the Societa Cooperativa in order to raise vineyard quality throughout the region, beginning the construction of the Cantina Montecarotto in 1971.
