Saumur Blanc 2020, Chateau de Villeneuve
The Villeneuve estate has been making wine since 1577 and is now run by Jean-Pierre Chevallier, a 4th generation winemaker who used to teach oenology at Bordeaux University before returning to his family’s stunning property.
The Château has 25 hectares of chalky soils all surrounding the Château overlooking the Loire. There are 5 hectares of Chenin and the rest is planted to Cabernet Franc which goes into the estate's superb Saumur-Champigny.
The Saumur Blanc is 30% barrel fermented and shows unbelievable purity and precision. Aromas of apple, melon and honeysuckle lead onto a silky, concentrated palate with a backbone of racy, mineral acidity. Sublime Loire Chenin.
