Description

This elegant, well-proportioned Chianti is aged for 12 months in French oak. Intense and smooth with dark berry and fresh spice flavours.

2023 - 13.5% abv

Grape varieties: 90% Sangiovese, 5% Malvasia Nera, 5% Colorino

Food pairing: BBQ, rich and spicy ragus, aged cheese

Ageing potential: 15 years

Grapes are sourced from estate vineyards spread across a unique range of soil and climate types, at altitudes of 220-570m above sea level, with each parcel vinified separately. 

Mazzei's Castello di Fonterutoli estate covers 8 individual terroirs spread throughout the Chianti region and comprises 110 hectares of vineyards, separated into 114 distinct parcels. The grapes are all hand-harvested and each parcel is vinified and aged in oak separately, transforming the value of diversity into an extraordinary breadth of bouquet and complexity.
