Description

This is a very elegant Blanc de Blancs with a delicate freshness and creamy texture on the palate. It is very fine indeed.

The vineyards of the House Vve Fourny are located in the most prestigious area of Champagne, the "Cote des Blancs", near Epernay, mostly planted with Chardonnay. This variety is the most sought-after for producing "Grandes Cuvees".

The Fourny family are passionate about producing rich wines which are as true to their terroir as possible. They deliberately restrict yields to achieve this aim and their vines average 35 years. They only use chemical treatments where absolutely necessary preferring as organic approach to their viticulture as possible.

Only the cuvee (first pressings),which are sweet and rich in acidity, is kept by the House Vve Fourny et Fils. The "tailles" (second pressings) are discarded.

The blending of the year's wines with the reserve wines (which make up the equivalent of at least half a harvest of old vintage wines) ensures a constant style, characteristic of the Veuve Fourny Champagnes. Part of the year's wines, matured in old oak barrels, strengthens this unique style.

After the first fermentation, their wines are kept in bottles and aged on their ferments for a long period. This long conservation enables the ferments to fully release their aromas. A cool and constant temperature in their cellars guarantees fine and light bubbles. When the wines have been disgorged they are stored in their cellars for some considerable time before being shipped.
