Description

Chiroubles is the highest altitude cru, meaning that it is generally the latest to harvest and the earliest drinking of the Beaujolais ‘family’. The 'La Forge' is wonderfully fruity, full of blackberries and blueberries - a really fresh example of Chiroubles and made to be enjoyed with food.

Domaine de la Chaponne is a wonderful family Domaine of 13 hectares run by Laurent and Laurence Guillet. Wine growers since 1987, the majority of Laurence and Laurent's vineyard plots lie in the Morgon climats “Grands Cras” and “Côte du Py”, producing rich, sumptuous wines. However a single hectare plot of vines in Chiroubles, which comes from Laurence’s family, has granitic, sandy, stony soils producing fruity, younger-drinking styles of wine. The grapes are whole bunch fermented with a remontage once or twice a day depending on the vintage for around 10 days. There is no pigeage. Quite delicious!
