Description
Elegant, dry, lightly oaked chardonnay, pale gold in colour with a vibrant nose of custard apple, clementine and light honeysuckle. On the palate rich orchard fruits balanced with a creamy texture and subtle spice. A crisp and complex framework makes this wine an excellent match with food, and it also has the structure to support extended ageing.
Recommended drinking window: 2024 – 2030
2022 - 13% abv
Vineyards: Martins Lane (Essex), Crouch Ridge (Essex), Old Mill House (Essex), Riverview Crouch Valley (Essex). The region around the Crouch Valley in Essex delivers fruit of exceptional ripeness.
Fermentation vessels: Stainless steel and French Oak (old and new)
Winemaking Notes:
The Chardonnay grapes were hand-harvested between the 3rd and 8th of October 2022 after a beautifully hot and dry summer. Fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and oak at cool temperatures using selected Burgundy yeast strains to enhance complexity, stone fruit, floral characters and minerality. Post fermentation there was full malolactic fermentation and extended fine lees ageing with regular bâtonnage to accentuate the natural weight. The wine was aged in oak for a little over a year before final blending.
