Description

This cuvee is an intense expression of the magical terroir of the Peter Sichel Estate located at the bottom of the picturesque village of Cucugnan. The depth of its aromas and the racy elegance of its tannins reflect the warmth and softness of the South of France.
An expressive nose of ripe fruit, blackcurrant and prunes. The palate is elegant and supple with generous fruit, notes of peppery spices and fine silky tannins.

52% Grenache - 24% Carignan - 24% Syrah

2019 - 14.5% abv

Peter Sichel first discovered the remote valley of Cucugnan on a road trip in the 1960s. Situated in Cather Country south of the Aude, he was so taken with the place that he bought a house there and in 1988, planted a vineyard with the ambition of harnessing the incredible potential of this high-altitude terroir. In 2019 Peter’s grandson Alexander Sichel took over the vineyard with the aim of producing exceptional wines that rewarded this vision, focusing on Biodiversity and sustainability as key elements in this quest. He re-named the property Domaine Peter Sichel in honour of his grandfather and the unique IGP Pays de Cucugnan was born. In the heart of a natural park and set against the backdrop of the Pyrenees, the vineyards enjoy a Mediterranean climate cooled by the altitude and Atlantic breezes.
