Description

Smooth and powerful with intense dark fruit, Grand Coutale is the top cuvee from Clos la Coutale, an exceptional wine that receives the greatest care. With a yield of 25hl, hand-picked whole grapes are fermented in wooden casks with manual punching down. The blend of Malbec, Merlot and Tannat is then matured in a selection of new barrels for two years as soon as the alcoholic fermentation is complete. Regular stirring of the fine wine sediment produces supple and silky tannins.

VEGAN

The Bernede family has 60 hectares of vineyards on the gentle slopes rising from the Lot river, rich in siliceous, clay and limestone soils. Philippe has tinkered with the blend over the years to achieve a fine equilibrium, creating an intense wine combining local rusticity with everyday drinking. Their wines are now organic (from the 2022 vintage) and age well.
