Description

Some of the most remote vineyards in France are to be found in the far south, nestling in the shadow of the Pyrenees, bounded on one side by the wild Atlantic and on the other by the warm Mediterranean. These foothills and valleys are home to numerous dedicated vignerons who respect and celebrate the native grapes and traditional wine-making techniques of the region whilst championing innovation in their vineyards and wineries. These lesser known appellations are producing some delicious and affordable wines which are well worth a try:

Case includes 1 bottle each of the following wines plus Free Delivery (Mainland UK):

Cotes du Roussillon - A pair of bold and flavoursome wines from the talented team at Arnaud Villeneuve. This cooperative's vineyards are primarily located in the northern part of the Roussillon plain, between the Corbières, the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean and represent a magnificent array of terroirs:
Chemin de Garriu – Cotes du Roussillon Blanc
Chemin de Garriu – Cotes du Roussillon Rouge

St Mont AOC - the Saint Mont appellation is in Gers, SW France, located half-way between coastal Bayonne and Toulouse. From this remote part of rural Gascony, comes a pair of wines, lovingly crafted by local cooperative, Producteurs Plaimont, a group of like-minded wine growers whose quality-focused approach melds respect for traditional grape varieties with a passion for innovation.
Beret Noir – St Mont Blanc
Beret Noir – St Mont Rouge

Cotes de Gascogne – the Baumann family’s 75 hectare estate was originally dedicated to the production of Armagnac but is now crafting some exceptional still wines, particularly zesty and vibrant whites, from often underrated local grape varieties.
Domaine des Cassagnoles Colombard – Cotes de Gascogne Blanc

PGI Pays de Cucugnan – in Cathar country, south of the Aude, perched high in the Corbieres mountains, lies the Peter Sichel Estate, planted in 1988 with the vision of harnessing the incredible potential of this high-altitude terroir. The Pays de Cucugnan PGI was created due to the passion and hard work of Alexander Sichel in bringing his grandfather’s dream to fruition.
‘Altura 350’ Pays de Cucugnan Rouge – Domaine Peter Sichel
