Description

5eme Cru Classé Pauillac

Wonderfully rich with big cassis flavours on the nose and an underlying hint of fresh herbs.

2009 - 13.5% abv

This 5th Classified Growth has half of its vineyards adjacent to Chateau Latour and the other half behind Chateau Pichon Baron, on the heights of the site "Bages", a large plateau in the south of Pauillac.

The property underwent a renaissance in 1960 when the Cruse family, owners of Chateau Pontet Canet, another 5th Classified Growth in Pauillac, acquired the property and launched an extensive program of vineyard replanting. However, it was with the arrival of the Villars family in 1983 that Chateau Haut Bages Liberal really recovered its former glory. Today, the property is run by Claire VILLARS LURTON, who has undertaken a complete overhaul of the winemaking facilities and is spear-heading a move to sustainable viticulture.
