Description

Vin Doux Naturel

Intensely flavoured, sweet red wine made from 100% Grenache. Fresh and fruity with attractive red berry flavours.

As with a good port, Maury becomes more refined with age and takes on greater complexity. lt works exceptionally well with chocolate, caramelised oranges and blue cheese. Or if you prefer savoury flavours, try slightly chilled with good charcuterie or coarse cut paté - a match made in heaven.

ORGANIC

Maury is an an AOP for fortified Vin Doux Naturel wines made in the Roussillon wine growing region in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is created by adding local spirit to the red wine mid fermentation leaving the wine with natural residual sugars (the same process used in making Port wine).

Lying back from the Roussillon plain, the Maury terroir benefits from a geology (schist and calcareous clay) which allows it to create robust wines of exceptional taste. The Maury wines from Domaine Pouderoux come from vines situated in the heart of the commune.

Paul Pouderoux was born in 1909. He was a pioneer of Maury and a tireless defender of the legislation for A.O.C. Robert, his grandson and present owner of the Domaine, carried on the tradition with a growing program close to nature, respecting the soil, biological diversity and the ecosystem.

Robert’s cousin, Louise Tanguy, and her partner Leo Hemmer Bury, who met whist studying agronomy in Toulouse, now run this small family-owned Estate. Louise’s first vintage was in 2022. The Estate has been organic since 2011 and Biodynamic since 2021.
