Description

This is a young Burgundy that is full of fruit and a dash of earthiness - it can be drunk straight away, after a 10-15 minute aeration. It is full of incredible and dense fruit, (very pure and ripe) bordering on the darker cherry side, which is framed by Xavier's meticulous and judicious use of new oak.

This special cuvée takes its name from the time when Xavier played rugby for Nuits St. Georges - the No. 6 position is the left flanker. The wine comes from an exceptional parcel of sixty year-old vines which are only 100 metres from the famed Nuits St. Georges vineyard, Clos de Maréchale. 

2023 - 13% abv

28 year-old Xavier Durand took over the 12 hectare family domaine, from his father, Rene at the beginning of 2011. This energetic and highly talented young man has propelled this domaine in to the region's premier league. Yields have been dramatically reduced and the emphasis is on terroir with all lieux-dits now clearly stated on the labels. These are wines of great precision and freshness, with a wonderful purity. Xavier's reds from the Cote de Nuits surpass many Nuits St. Georges and are phenomenal value. The top-end Aloxe-Corton, les Boutieres is from 40 year-old vines, planted just below the villages Premier Cru vineyards. The Grand Cru Corton le Rognet is widely regarded as being one of the finest from this vineyard whilst the humble Ladoix Cote de Beaune reveals the care and attention that Xavier puts in to all his wines.
