Ladoix “Les Briquottes” Rouge 2020, Domaine Xavier Durand

This delicious red sees a year in oak, of which 40% is new. On the nose there is an intense spiciness combined with a confit fruit nose. This is a structured, ripe and powerful Pinot but refreshingly balanced and only 13% abv.  Very long finish with hyper-fine tannins. 

28 year-old Xavier Durand took over the 12 hectare family domaine , from his father, René, at the beginning of 2011. This energetic and highly talented young man has propelled this domaine in to the region’s premier league. Yields have been dramatically reduced and the emphasis is now on terroir with all lieux-dits now clearly stated on the labels. These are wines of great precision and freshness, with a wonderful purity.
