Lebanese Red Wines

Chris and John visited the wines of Massaya about ten years ago but this is a mere pin-drop in the country’s ancient winemaking heritage, which dates back thousands of years to the Phoenicians. Grown primarily in the Bekaa Valley, where the high altitude and Mediterranean climate create ideal conditions, these Lebanese wines often blend traditional French varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Cinsault. Known for its bold character, deep colour, and complex flavours, Lebanese red wine typically offers notes of dark berries, spice, and earth. Renowned Lebanese wineries such as Château Musar and Massaya have helped put Lebanon on the global wine map, blending tradition with innovation to produce wines of remarkable depth and aging potential.
