The estate is now run by his sons Serge and Roland.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eYou have to admire what this family has achieved - especially prior to the ceasefire in 1990. Anyone who goes on making fine wine whilst bombs are falling around their estate surely deserves a medal.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMiniscule yields of 30 to 35hl\/ha produced a wine with a deep dark red colour, perhaps darker than usual at Chateau Musar.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe nose is a complex intriguing mixture of figs, prunes, leather, dark tea, tobacco, black olives with spices and a certain earthiness.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOn the palate, you will find ripe black cherries, figs, damsons-even chocolate and olives. C.V.N.E., Compa¤¡a Vinicola del Norte de Espa¤a (The Northern Spanish Wine Company) or la Cune, as it is commonly known in Haro, was created.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Cune winery in Haro, is made up of a group of buildings, mostly from the 19th century and arranged around a courtyard surrounded by pavilions for the purpose of wine production, aging, and bottling and it was one of the first wineries of Rioja to bottle its own wines. In 1900, the winery had an extraordinary aging capacity of 80,000 bottles, which was most unusual at the time, as most wineries were selling their wines as soon as possible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Mazuelo grapes for the Crianza were carefully hand harvested, destalked, and short macerated, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at between 26 and 28oC to retain varietal aromas.
