French Alsace Sweet Wine

These are gorgeous rich wines, perfect for desserts such as Tarte Tatin and with warm summer orchard fruits with a swirl of honey and cream. Alsace sweet wines, known as Vendanges Tardives (late harvest) and Sélection de Grains Nobles (botrytized), are some of France’s most prized dessert wines. Grown in the cool, sunny climate of northeastern Alsace, these wines are typically made from aromatic grape varieties like Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Muscat. Vendanges Tardives wines are rich and luscious, with concentrated flavours of ripe stone fruits, honey, and spice, while Sélection de Grains Nobles offers even greater complexity and sweetness, often with notes of candied fruit, citrus peel, and noble rot. Despite their sweetness, these wines maintain vibrant acidity, giving them elegance, balance, and excellent aging potential.
