Description

From fifty year-old vines situated in the aux Corvées vineyard, just below the village of Gevrey.
Great purity and focus to the black cherry fruit, with gossamer-fine tannins, great mouth-feel and loads of liquorice and dark chocolate. Has the weight of classic Gevrey, but the generosity of fruit keeps it very moreish, and the finish has a charming spiciness. Layered and lengthy.

We have been working with “Le Grand Paul” for twenty-five years and there has never been a dull moment! Paul Garaudet took charge of this important 10-hectare domaine when he was only eighteen, following the sudden death of his father, Georges, When we first met Paul, he was rather cautious with the characteristic suspiciousness of a Burgundian. As time wore on, Paul gained in self-confidence and, most importantly, developed his own, individualistic wine-making techniques. Today he is one of a small band of Burgundy growers who are, very unusually, as good at making white wines as they are reds. The Garaudet hallmark is wines of great clarity and a fantastic purity of fruit. Paul has carved himself out a reputation as the leading wine-maker in the village of Monthélie, a sleepy village in the valley just to the west of Meursault.
