Description

Six bottles hand-selected by Chris Piper for their originality from our ever growing wine list. These are grape varieties (or countries eg. Lebanon) that you may never have tried  but always wanted to, or equally are looking for something different and a change from the 'normal' offerings seen in the bigger shops.

Includes one bottle of each of the following plus Free Delivery (Mainland UK)

White Wines

Torrontes 'Crios', Susana Balbo, Dominio del Plata, Salta/Uco Valley, Argentina: The balance of Salta (warm, full flavoured) with Uco Valley (cooler, better acidity) grapes is a perfect combo. Uber-fresh with mouth-tingling flavours of elderflower, lemon zest, lime and a touch of warm peach with a streak of salinity bringing a wonderful elegance.

Pedro Blanco 'Recoleta', Mauricio Lorca, Vista Flores, Uco Valley, Argentina: Made from the Pedro Ximenez grape this is a lovely, unexpectedly aromatic wine which is gorgeously refreshing - similar to an Albariño, it will marry well with light fish dishes and leafy green salads.

Mosel Riesling, Romerhoff Weinkellerie, Mosel, Germany; A lovely example of fresh, zippy Riesling with rounded medium limefresh grapey flavours with a hint of honey, a mineral undertone and delicately balanced acidity. Drinking extremely well.

Red Wines

Carmanere Reserva, Casas del Bosque, Santa Rosa, Casablanca, Chile: A lively and vibrant red, with notes of tobacco and spices. On the nose the typical green paprika from the vine blends well with the spices from the barrel. The palate is balanced and voluptuous with a gorgeous ripeness and soft tannins.

Massaya ' Le Colombier', Beqaa Valley, Mount Lebanon, Lebanon; Made from a blend of 35% Cinsault, 35% Grenache and 30% Tempranillo, this is a fresh, thirst-quenching wine for everyday drinking, distinguished by hints of spice and pepper.

Forma de Arte Touriga Nacional, Quinta do Casal Monteiro, Tejo, Portugal: Made exclusively from estate-grown Touriga Nacional grapes. harvested at the ideal maturation point. This unoaked, concentrated and fully aromatic wine reveals excellent structure and complexity, finishing long and persistent.
