Half Bottles Chateau Guiraud 2005
1er Cru Classe Sauternes
Classic Guiraud coppery gold colour with a nose-tingling bouquet of pinepples, citrus and honey. A lively peaches and citrus fruit attack is back up by an imposing creamy concentration and beautiful purity and freshness. Very opulent all round. Drink 2014 to 2028.
This is one of the largest estates in Sauternes. With a surface area of 128 hectares, Chateau Guiraud is situated entirely in the commune of Sauternes of which 100ha are currently under production divided as follows: 85 ha for Sauternes and 15ha for dry white Bordeaux. The average yield is 12hl/ha. The maximum yield permitted for the Sauternes appellation is 25hl/ha. A minimum potential of 20% alcohol is required to start the harvest.
In spite of an usually high proportion of Sauvignon Guiraud manages to achieve great richness and fullness of body.
