Description

The Granit 30 comes from vineyards lower down the slope (approx 30 degrees) and around 30 years of age. Primarily de-stemmed with 12 months maturation in older oak. An earlier drinking than the Granit 60, fruit forward style of Cornas. The defining characteristic of Vincent's style is non oxidative handling, particularly during barrel maturation of up to 12 months which avoids a certain dustiness.

The nose opens nicely if you decant, showing red and dark berry fruit with lifted violets and a zesty mineral overtones and touch of spice. The palate is medium bodied and effortless with fresh raspberry and cherry flavours. The finish displays a classic peppery lift and good tangy persistence.

Vincent Paris inherited his magnificent vineyards, primarily in Cornas but a little in St Joseph too, from his grandfather. He was also blessed with 30-60 year old Syrah which he purchased from his famous uncle, Robert Michel, who is regarded as one of the finest growers in southern France. After working at the former J.L. Grippat estate and with Laurent Courbis, Vincent established his own domaine in 1997. Vincent worked closely with his uncle Robert for his first couple of vintages before breaking out on his own. The experience of working side by side with Robert Michel has proven to be tremendously influential in crafting Vincent's approach to winemaking and his respect for the vine.
