The Aloxe-Corton Les Chaillots is a wine of great elegance with wonderful morello cherry aromas leading to a summer berry palate, exuding charm and roundness with every sip. An exceptional red.
28 year-old Xavier Durand took over the 12 hectare family domaine , from his father, Ren??, at the beginning of 2011. This energetic and highly talented young man has propelled this domaine in to the regions premier league. Yields have been dramatically reduced and the emphasis is now on terroir with all lieux-dits now clearly stated on the labels. These are wines of great precision and freshness, with a wonderful purity. Xaviers reds from the Cote de Nuits surpass many Nuits St. Georges and are phenomenal value. The top-end Aloxe-Corton, les Boutieres is from 40 year-old vines, planted just about a frogs jump below the villages Premier Cru vineyards. The Grand Cru Corton le Rognet is widely regarded as being one of the finest from this vineyard whilst the humble Ladoix, C??te de Beaune reveals the care and attention that Xavier puts in to all his wines.
Durands Corton Grand Cru le Rognet is one of the regions iconic wines and is only available in tiny quantities but he makes a little more of his Aloxe Corton. They are wines that warrant plenty of bottle-ageing to show at their most complex.
