Chateau De Fieuzal Blanc 2015
One of the Graves' most sought after white wines. The wine is femented in 50% new oak barrels and is left to age on its lees (the fine deposits left after fermentation) for one year with regular battonage (stirring up). This results in an intensely flavoured, complex wine capable of ageing for several years. The 2009 sees an exceptionally concentrated and carefully oaked wine with a nose that has a complex orange and melons aroma and a seductive, finely defined fruit on the palate. the wine finished on a very long note. Drink 2017 to 2025.
The estate includes 48 hectares under vine planted on a gravelly/sandy soil. The white varietals are 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% S‚millon with an average age of 25 years. All grapes are picked by hand and several passess are undertaken for the white grapes, followed by rigorous sorting in the cellar. Since 1985 the elevage (ageing/development of the wine) has been controlled by Denis Dubourdieu whose skill has seen the white wine elevated to one of the most highly prized in Bordeaux. There are just 2,500 cases of white wine made.
