When the Ash’s nephew, Mark Sharman, took over the running of Sharpham in the 1990’s, he was responsible for planting new vineyards and also taking of Duncan Schwab as winemaker. Today, Duncan is CEO and is still in charge of wine making and has been instrumental in the evolution of Sharpham wines into Sandridge Barton. As the English wine industry started to flourish, so did the demand for Sharpham’s pioneering wines and with this is mind, Mark and Duncan started buying grapes, in 2006, from Sandridge Barton, on the opposite banks of the River Dart.

In 2020, the Sharpham ‘operation’ moved its base to Sandridge Barton itself, as the majority of the fruit being used by then was actually being sourced from the vineyards around Sandford Barton. At the same time, it made sense to change the ‘brand’ to Sandridge Barton Wines, with everything now being made in the new state-of-the-art winery at Sandridge Barton.

A ripe and fruit-driven white made from Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus, Pinot Gris and a touch of barrel-aged Pinot Blanc.
