The rolling, verdant vineyards of Oregon are extremely inviting and the locals claim that Oregon is not just a wine destination but also a lifestyle. The marginal, cool climate vineyards of Oregon are ideally placed for the production of wine although frost can sometimes be a problem. Many of the vineyards were extensively replanted in the eighties and ninties with lower yielding clones which are producing better and better wines as the years go on.
Pinot Gris, 2002 - Firesteed Winery
The 2002 Firesteed Pinot Gris offers aromas of perfectly ripe honeydew melon, almond extract, minerals, clove and wild honey. Full, lucious mouthfeel with a hint of ripe strawberries. Surprisingly complex.
Consistent quality at Firesteed is ensured by long-term contracts with carefully selected growers and with two designated wineries. Part of the secret of success is that they are not confined to a growing region, and are free to explore the opportunities that interest our customers. When you are a 'virtual' winery, the world is your vineyard!
