The Sanz family at la Castilla Vieja have been leading the way when it comes to the development of top-flight whites from the region, having pioneered night-time harvesting and developed an environmentally friendly way of getting rid of Rueda's biggest pest, the yellow spider. From cool-climate vineyards situated about 900 metres above sea-level, the new generation of wine-makers at la Castilla Vieja have introduced the wonderful Joven Verdejo.
