Founded in 1909 and named after the village where it is located, the San Michele Appiano winery was the first cooperative to win the Gambero Rosso's prestigious 'WINERY OF THE YEAR' award in 2000. The award recognised the hard work and talent that winemaker Hans Terzer has applied over the last 24 years. He has consistently produced wines which have been recognised by critics as exceptional.
