Altyerre - SOUTH-EASTERN AUSTRALIA The range of Altyerre wines came about as a result of our need to find an interesting range of quality entry-point wines from Australia. Our aim was to find wines with more attitude and individuality than the run-of-the mill brews often found at this level of price. Altyerre means 'dream time' in Aboriginal and this relaxed approach to life is conveyed by the easy-going nature of all of these wines.
Aldridge Estate - RIVERINA Aldridge Estate is based in the heart of the Riverina district, an agricultural region of south-western New South Wales (NSW), Australia. The Riverina is distinguished from other Australian regions due to the combination of flat plains, warm to hot climate and an ample supply of water for irrigation. This combination has allowed the Riverina to develop into one of the most productive and agriculturally diverse areas of Australia. Aldridge Estate uses both drip and flood irrigation which in times of drought is very useful as the water ration allowed for flood irrigation is considerably higher than for drip. The ration, however can be used in any way the winery likes so they are quite able to use it all for drip irrigation.
Home to Aboriginal groups for over 40,000 years, the Riverina was originally settled by Europeans in the mid 19th century as a pastoral region providing beef and wool to markets in Australia and beyond. In the 20th century, development of major irrigation areas in the Murray and Murrumbidgee valleys has led to the introduction of crops such as rice and wine grapes.
Tyrrell's Moore's Creek and Old Winery The Moores Creek range of wines takes its name from the gully and fresh water creek that runs through their vineyards, providing the only access to the Brokenback Ridge from their land.
Under the leadership of the late Murray Tyrrell, who strongly represented the interests of the Hunter Valley and its growers for over 40 years, this dynamic company has blossomed from an insignificant player to one of the most important of the few family-run firms still operating in Australia. Now under the direction of Bruce Tyrrell, wine-makers Andrew Spinaze and Mark Richardson, are producing an immaculate, utterly characterful range of wines of a consistently high quality.
