Sales (Gloucs., N. Wilts, Cotswolds)
Having spent the best part of twenty years in the hotel industry racing around managing restaurants, I finally decided to hop over the fence in 2002 and to my major delight (and astonishment!) I bagged myself a dream job with a great team of people and jumped into my CPW Golf and raced off into the sunset cheering loudly!
My patch is "up in the North" taking care of the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire (give or take a couple of Counties either side and some very flexible borders - I certainly get some great days out!) and I've met some fantastic people along the way who are now great customers of ours. I also take care of some of our very valuable accounts in London and get let loose in the "big smoke" now and then on a strictly rationed basis - too much of a good thing hurts my credit card!!
No, I don't have lots of letters after my name (a BSc in Microbiology if you insist) but I do know what I like, what my customers will like, and how to push aside all the mysteries that surround wine and actually get down to selling fantastic quality products that people are going to enjoy and keep coming back for. To me, it's all about having fun, enjoying selling and keeping smiling - I can't believe they are actually paying me to do this!!
Hoping to meet you on my travels and welcome you into the CPW fold - we really are quite special!
I've been asked to mention some of my favourite wines. My dream destination has to be Burgundy for all the seductive charms of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (and our wonderful team of producers there), although I can always be tempted by Riesling when thirsty and bubbles from Bollinger to celebrate; Andries Burger makes fabulous wines at the Paul Cluver Estate, and Tindall Sauvignon Blanc is always guaranteed to lead me astray - will that do for starters? | |
