I was born in Newton Abbot, South Devon in 1958. I began my working life as a butcher and have worked in many places in Devon from Totnes to Seaton, culminating in my own business in an East Devon village.

I am well travelled and my interest in wine was awakened following a visit to the Margaret River Vineyards in Australia. Due to the steady decline in family butchers, I decided to change my career after seeing an advert for my current job, which entails delivering fine wines to hotels, restaurants and many private customers in the South West Region.

Since working for CPW I have learned much about the wines of the world, this includes learning from books as well as tasting the products. In 2005, the company took us on a tour of several vineyards in the Bordeaux region of France which I suppose was 'on-the-job' learning!

My interests outside of work include stock car racing as a driver and socialising with my friends in Ottery St Mary. I also have an unusual talent, in that I am able to read the crystal ball and practice psychometry, that is telling people about their past by touching a sentimental object.

I have two grown up children and a 7 month old granddaughter. I recently re-married on the same day as the famous Ottery Tar Barrels, 5th November and I was extremely honoured to have the rock canons fired in our honour. The custodian of the canons has since published a book on the history of the canons and I am very proud to have a chapter dedicated to my wedding that will preserve me in the history of Ottery St Mary for ever.
