Jean Rijckaert (pronounced ray-cart) has a magnificent four hectare domaine in the Jura which lies about 50km to the east of Burgundy, in the foothills of the Jura Mountains. His vines are found around the villages of Arbois and Buvilly, in the north of the region and are on the same latitude as Chassagne and Puligny Montrachet.

Savagnin is a unique, local grape variety that is often used to make the famous 'Vin Jaune', the rather odd, oxidised wine of Jura. Here, however, Jean Rijckaert makes a very definitely non-oxidised wine that's fresh and fine with a beautifully pure expression of this highly characterful grape.
