The Dal Cero family have transformed the Ca' dei Frati property into a model of what a winery should be in this day and age and they now have 50 hectares under vine. They are now one of the best properties in Lugana.

As with so many superb wine producers, much of the secret lies in the vineyard where the vines are trained low and planted densely. The result is a dramatic reduction in yield and huge increase in concentration. The quality of the fruit is accentuated in the winery where Igino Dal Cero is not afraid to lose simple, primary perfumes if it means that he gains weight, texture and complexity by allowing some vats to undergo malolactic fermentation. Once again, this distinguishes their wine from the vast majority in Lombardy and results in a wine of such fullness and length that would, if produced in Friuli, fetch twice the price it currently does.

The 'Brolettino' comes from fully mature Lugana grapes grown in the eponymous vineyard, planted in 1971. It is fermented in barrique and the oak supports a rich and complex fruit well balanced by a fresh, zingy acidity. It has great depth and breadth and ages well.
