Vernaccia Di San Gimignano
-
2005
-
Terruzi e Puthod
Ref: A102305
Distinctively fruity, always fresh and decidedly ripe and finishes with a mouth-tingling acidity.
Of antique, noble and certified genealogy -the Liber Aetatum, the historical archive of San Gimignano, certifies landed ownership rights since 1489-,the Baroncini family perfectly expresses the success of an olive cultivation and viticultural production structure, according to the formula of the authentic tradition of San Gimignano.
From father to son, until the death of Jaures - the inspiration behind and promoter of the new course of the company - and his wife Ilva; to his children Bruna and Stefano Baroncini, the family business has built up and expanded the mosaic of its labels of quality over the years. Behind the label it isnt hard to recognise the components of the winning synergy: deep respect for the environment; love and devotion to the most characteristic of the products of these lands; marketing oriented business acumen and managerial ability.
Every form of ostentation is banned from the family history: the rhythm of the corks evokes the constant, soft rhythm of the footsteps of the winegrower in the vineyards, which has advanced steadily within the Baroncini family for more than 500 years!
Vernaccia di San Gimignano dates back to the thirteenth century and is based around the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano, southwest of Florence. Its origins are thought to be Greek. The wines produced from the Vernaccia can vary tremendously but modern winemaking techniques produce pale wines with a crisp, light character.
This example from the Baroncini family is light straw yellow verging on gold with typical fruity palate, well knit and with a hint of bitter almonds on the finish.
The DOCG area based around the town of San Gimignano was the very first to receive DOC status when Italy began implementing its wine-classification system in 1966. In addition to the reputation for the wines produced from its namesake grape, the town of San Gimignano is renowned for its medieval atmosphere. It's replete with tall, narrow towers that were built during a time when higher was considered better and safer.
