A fine fragrant 'dolce' liqueur wine from Apulia, the Aleatico di Puglia has a very ancient history and is still made very traditionally. The best production is in the 'Deep South' of Apulia, in the area immediately surrounding Bari and the Salentine peninsula. Aleatico is an ancient Greek grape variety, producing small clusters of berries with astonishingly rich fruit, which is now only cultivated in small zones of Puglia and Lazio - these red dessert wines are becoming increasingly scarce.

Intense garnet with hints of imperial purple in colour, the wine has a luscious scent of 'Port' and liquorice, which follows through on the palate with a sensational weight of sweet, full and very velvety fruit. Flavours of fresh figs soaked in Marsala, tobacco leaf, ultra-ripe redcurrants and a hint of damson explode onto the taste buds!
