The Perrucci brothers are the leading lights in the Accaemia de Racemi, which specialises in 'rescuing' run down or soon to be abandoned estates capable of producing top quality fruit - it's as if Ernst Loosen has moved to Puglia! This is a 'special cuvee' 100% 'old vine head pruned' Primitivo that has been extremely popular with our customers, especially those who like bold flavours married to a more supple character. It has attracted lots of very favourable comment, from the likes of The Sunday Times and Robert Parker, who have been wooed by the open, succulent style of the wine.

It is very rich and expansive red, redolent of Port on the nose, with seductive spiced prunes, figs and damson fruit flooding onto the palate, backed up with wild herbs (lavender) and liquorice. It has just the faintest tinge of oak, there mainly to soften the grippiness of the ripe tannins.

A fabulous wine that is a personal favourite of several members of staff.
