Verdelho

Still grown to a limited extent on the island of Madeira after being nearly wiped out by phylloxera. It is also grown in other parts of Portugal and Spain. This white wine has achieved great success in Australia.

Characteristics: In Australia the wines can be relatively full-bodied with good melony fruit on the palate. The best examples from Europe are very clean and crisp with some depth.

Where is it found? Australia, particularly Western Australia, Spain and Portugal.
