
A Portuguese grape almost exclusively grown on the island of Madeira. It ripens particularly late in the season but has the advantage that the grapes retain a high level of acidity. Sercial is also a name given to the lightest and driest of Madeiras even if they are made from other grapes.
Characteristics: Light, dryish with the unique 'Madeira' smell.
