South Africa's own grape variety was the result of crossing Pinot Noir with Cinsault which was launched in the 1960's. It has the advantage of being an early ripener producing wines with a pungent, sweet but sometimes chemical smell that can be light and juicy or dark, tannic beasts.
Characteristics: Light, juicy and fruity or big, dense and broody.
