
Piquepoul translates as 'lip-stinger' - a reference to the high acidity of its must. Its wines are generally very crisp, dry and refreshing. It has been gaining popularity in the Midi in recent years.
Characteristics: Fresh, dry lemony whites with medium body.
Where is it grown? In the small enclave of Pinet in the Languédoc which is generally recognised as its best exponent. The Languédoc and Southern Rhône where it is often blended with other varieties.
