
The Palomino grape was supposedly named after one of King Alfonso X's most trusted knights and has become the grape of the sherry region. It likes warm, dry soils and is pretty abundant producing lots of richly sweet grapes with lowish acidity. Outside Spain, the Palomino Fino is found in South Africa (where it is sometimes called 'Fransdruif' or 'French Grape'!), California and Cyprus.
Characteristics: Rich in fermentable sugar and lowish acidity.
