A very significant variety in the south of France particularly in Roussillon and Corbières. This variety is totally distinct from the Grenache Noir or Garnacha.
Characteristics: Often blended the wines are invariably weighty and quite fat and soft ranging in style from the very sweet vins doux naturels to forming part of the blends for many a Châteauneuf-du-Pape white and other southern French whites.
Where is it found?: Rhône, Languédoc, Roussillon. Also in Spain as Garnacha Blanca where it is used in several white wines from Rioja, Navarra and Tarragona.

Food matches: As a dry blended white with freshwater fish, quiches, poultry, charcuterie and vegetarian dishes. As a sweet wine with fruit tarts and sweeter puddings.
