
Literally translates as the 'Spicy Traminer' grape. It is one of the most famous varieties of the Alsace region of France.
Characteristics: White wines often revealing a bouquet of rose petals with a flavour reminiscent of lychees. It ranges from dry to opulently sweet.
Where is it found?: Extensively in Alsace, Germany and Austria but it has successfully been grown in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Washington State and Oregon in North America.
Wines associated: Alsace and now being seen in Australia and New Zealand.
Food matches: Aperitif, Quiches, Charcuterie
