Bürklin Estate Riesling
Bürklin Estate Riesling - 2004 - weingut Dr. Bürklin-Wolf
Ref: A091204
Great depth of flavour, aromatic spice and soft with a voluptuous finish. This Riesling is dry, fruity and crisp.

In 1597, Bernhard Bürklin, town clerk and mayor of Wachenheim, founded the estate. The foundations of the Bürklin Estate as one of Germany`s most important wine producers were laid in 1875 when Luise Wolf married Albert Bürklin, a lawyer based in Karlsruhe. With this, Germany's largest privately owned estate took on its current name Bürklin-Wolf.

His great nephew with the same name, Dr. Albert Bürklin, father of current owner Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze, inherited the Estate in 1924 and dedicated his life to high quality wine production. He played a major role in the foundation of a powerful association of German wine estates and had substantial influence on wine legislation and wine decrees in Germany.

Dr. Albert Bürklin made his eldest daughter Bettina his heir. Since 1990, together with her husband Christian von Guradze, she has successfully run Germany's largest privately owned wine estate . Whilst continuing the tradition of high quality winemaking, they also expanded former winemaking concepts by introducing a new vineyard classification based on a 19th century version and the Burgundian example.

Under Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze's careful guidance, the Bürklin-Wolf Estate has not only reached new heights in wine quality , but has also become a major venue for cultural events. The annual series of concerts and events is called "Fermate" and includes an open air courtyard concert and dinner in June, an open air opera festival in August and a Christmas concert in December. The concerts take place in the Bürklin-Wolf Estate's extensive old park, garden and courtyard, the summer events give a true Glyndebourne feeling in the midst of Germany's Pfalz.
