For the Future - Red Wines

As will be deduced from the recommendations of wines to lay down for differing lengths of time the choices are varied and broad depending upon the length of cellaring required.
Here are a couple of suggestions:

Chianti Classico 2006 - Felsina Berardenga, Castelnuevo Berardenga - £17.28 per bottle

Deep, attractive ruby red colour. Elegantly fruity nose, with marked scents of wild red berries foregrounding nuances of mixed spices. The palate, too, shows excellent fruit supported by judicious tannins. Lengthy finish. Felsina's wines have never been better. Quite a statement when you stop to think about the wines that Giuseppe Mazzocolin, together with winemaker Franco Bernabei, have put together over the last twenty years. Felsina's vineyards are situated in the commune of Catelnuovo Berardenga on the southern border of the zone. The wines have a great intensity but also wonderful accessibility and they can be drunk now as they have a great depth of fruit, brilliant richness and the right level of tannin, but will continue to improve over the next five years or so.
