Corbières Rouge
Ref: A062406
The Château de Tersac Corbières Rouge shows this appellation off to the full. Vinified using very old Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah, which are all 100% de-stalked, the resultant wine has a delicious fruit intensity with very ripe tannins and a distinctive smoothness accompanying the succulence.
Four years ago, this important estate was bought by our old friends from Pouilly-sur-Loire, Jean-Michel and Michèle Masson-Blondelet.
For the first couple of years, it took this dynamic familys every last ounce of energy to get the vines properly cleaned-up and for a new winery to be installed. At the same time, they have had to run their large domaine in Pouilly, continually commuting between the two vineyards.
However, this enormous effort has been rewarded by numerous national awards and, when we visited this year, we were deeply impressed by both their red and white Corbières. Both their wines are at the summit of their Appellation.
