Fitou - 2004 - Domaine de Roudene

The wine is made from 50% old vine Carignan and 40% Grenache with 10% Syrah, all of which are planted on meagre chalky-clay soils resulting in yields as low as 35hl./ha. There is a traditional vinification in tank for anything up to three weeks and then the wine stays in vat until it is bottled.

The Carignan is traditionally fermented adding a further dimension to a wine that is particularly rich, spicy and perfumed.

Jean-Paul Faixo’s fourteen hectares of Fitou are beautifully positioned in the heart of the great ‘bowl’ from which come the best wines of this appellation.
