Côteaux Du Languédoc - 2004 - Domaine St. Jean

The 2004 Côteaux du Languedoc is made from 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre and combines a floral, spicy nose with a multi-dimensional, soft-textured, mouth-filling fruitiness and enough ripe tannins to guarantee its development over the next few years.

Jean-Luc Viguier is the viticulturist whilst his wife, Catherine is a qualified oenologist in charge of wine-making at this 45 hectare vineyard, situated about 10km. To the north-east of Montpellier. The domaine has been in the same family for three generations and was founded in 135 by the Knights Templar.

The overall soil base is stony, red Bauxite clay and the vineyards are situated on an exceptionally hilly terroir where yields rarely go beyond 40hl./ha. The Viguiers are a down-to-earth couple who are passionate about what they do and believe in making reds with plenty of vibrant, primary fruit and power.
