Cotes Du Rhône Villages, Visan - 2005 - Domaine Roche-Audran

This is a remarkably good Côtes du Rhône Villages. Visan, 2005 from Vincent Rochette at Domaine Roche-Audran, situated at Buisson. Vincent is in his early 30's and is the type of man that we like to deal with. Totally passionate about his product, wine in general and always trying to "push the envelope" in terms of experimentation. This Visan is extremely competitively priced as a Villages. 2005 was an excpetional vintage in the Rhône.

The colour exhibits a bright purplish hue. On the nose there is tar and smokiness with hints of plums. There are some tannins still on the palate but these are beginning to become supple. The wine has a lovely mouthfeel and is full of rich damson and slightly smokey fruit. The finish is very long. Drink 2006 to 2009.
