This is Fernand Moron's top cuvée and it is fabulous. Loaded with a laser-show of complex honeyed fruit flavours on the palate still with an amazingly fresh acidity. A genuine nectar and would go with desserts which are relatively sweet but not too overpoweringly intense. Drink now - 2025.

The complexity of these sweet Chenin Blanc wines from the Loire has to be tasted to be believed. There is intense concentration in these sweet wines which nevertheless exhibit an almost incongruous delicacy and freshness. They are at once honeyed and succulent yet betraying a lightness of touch on the palate. This contradiction of character makes them difficult to pair properly with food. Their rich sweetness promotes them as a dessert wine yet they are often completed overpowered by any competing sweet flavours. The solution for many of these wines is to sip them on a sunny afternnon without a care in the world or to partner them with a creamy blue cheese or a goat's cheese, possibly dried fruit and nuts or a lighter pudding based upon sharp citrus flavours. If you have a case of these wines you have plenty of time to try any combinations that suit you as they have the ability to keep for a very long time if properly cellared - 20 - 30 years is not uncommon.

Fernand Moron’s lovely selection of first division Côteaux du Layon and Quarts de Chaume epitomises the Chenin Blanc in its sweet form, with massively concentrated ripe peaches and cream fruit flavours combined with the tell-tale tart, balancing acidity.
